Felt Heart Pocket

Does it ever happen to you seeing something,
and just decide right then
"I gotta make this"?
Sometimes it happens to me.
I love work with felt.
It's just such a wonderful material to work with...
When I came upon this idea I knew right away I had to make it.

I didn't follow their tutorial;
instead I made the patterns by drawing my own hearts
the size and shape I wanted them to be.

For the outer smaller heart embellishments,
I did visually followed the tutorial for inspiration
and as you can see,
my personal version is a little bit different.

I wanted the heart pocket to hang from a doorway.
and I needed something to fill up the pocket.

I always pick my garden roses
when they start to look not so good
and then dry them on the microwave.
They're perfect to fill up containers or to make potpourri.

This heart pocket
was just what I needed to put some of the dried beauties in!

Enjoy this wonderful spring time,
and I'll see you all later!

Knitting: Dishcloth, Tawashi and Scarfs

For the last couple of weeks I've been knitting a little,
specially at night time while watching TV.
At first it was all about dish cloths...
My sister-in-law kinda put me on the mood for it
(you might not believe it, but I had never made any dish cloth before!).
Anyway...
this was my first one, out of cotton.
It seems like it's the most common pattern around,
and I got mine here.
After knitting the first one
I've decided to used 2 strands of yarn knitted together
to make it sturdier
(tough afterwards I learned that only cotton is acceptable for a dish cloth).
By the time I finished the second one
I was done with this knitting pattern and searched the web for other ideas.
That's when I came upon the "tawashi",
the Japanese term for "dishcloth".
I found it very interesting so I crocheted my first tawashi
out of cotton leftovers.

The color composition is not great,
but with vibrant coordinating colors should look real good.
This is where I found the the pattern for the tawashi.
And those were my adventures on dishcloth land...

Still with the first pattern in mind
(that's right, the idiot's dishcloth pattern)
I decided to try a triangular scarf
with some of the cream cotton I had left.
And here it is,
with a very Ali Baba, or middle eastern, look
(at least that's what it made me think of)
after applying the fringe.

Since I still had a lot of the same cream cotton yarn left,
I made this one,
and this is what mine looks like.

The next two scarves
are variations of the same kind of the drop stitch,
and are made with different textures and different types of yarn.
They're different I think, and I like the way they look.

I'll see you all later!

Roll-out Crayons Case

Roll it in... roll it out...
... colors, colors, colors!

I thought it would be a good birthday gift
for a lovely young lady who happens to love to draw!
But shh!... don't tell her, it's a secret!

Yo-Yo dolls

Spring is definitely here,
and it does feel good.
The plum trees blossoms look astonishing, don't they?

In a effort to dig myself out from the hole I buried myself in,
I will try to post at least every couple of days... and I hope that might keep my days more energized.

I do have been doing something, the essential at least,
but in my own defense
I have to say that I've been fighting some kind of bug
or maybe even a respiratory infection for almost two weeks now.

Today it's all about yo-yo's.
In the past
I've made some clown dolls with fleece yo-yo's,
like this one here.
